After Four Years, a Potential TikTok Ban Looms Again
Nearly four years ago, Donald Trump attempted to ban TikTok with an executive order. After four years, TikTok once again faces a potential ban.
A bipartisan bill that targets TikTok has been passed in the House in March. The legislation directly names TikTok’s owner ByteDance, stipulating that if ByteDance does not sell its stakes within 180 days of the bill’s enactment, it would ban TikTok. Compared to the legal loopholes existing during the Trump era, the latest legislation aims to provide legislative support for the TikTok ban.
